Good food is our heritage…Siebkens Resort is looking for Cooks to join our team. We are looking for people with excellent communication skills, a positive attitude, and an eye for detail.
Expectations, Duties, and Responsibilities for all positions:
- Treat all co-workers, staff, vendors, and guests with courtesy and respect. In other words, treat others as you would wish to be treated.
- Work under the direction of our Executive Chef to complete tasks in a timely and competent fashion to ensure ample readiness for food service – Always be prepared.
- Ensure assigned work areas are tidy, clean, and safe.
- Protect equipment and make sure there are no inadequacies.
- Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash, etc.
- Comply with nutrition and sanitation guidelines.
- Always maintain a professional appearance.
- Work well both independently and in a team setting.
- Possess manual dexterity to operate cutting tools and kitchen utensils.
- Be able to stand for extended periods of time and lift 40 pounds.
You will assist in the preparation of delicious food in our kitchen. You will perform various kitchen tasks such as setting up workstations, preparing ingredients, and cooking food under the direction of our Executive Chef and other kitchen leaders.
A great Cook will be quick to complete tasks, diligent, and always working to improve. You will be able to follow instructions while complying with the highest health and safety standards. To succeed, you must be able to function in a fast-paced, busy environment as a part of a team while performing the following tasks.
- Inspect and clean food preparation areas, such as equipment, work surfaces, and serving areas, to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practices.
- Ensure freshness of food and ingredients by checking for quality, keeping track of old and new items, and rotating stock.
- Ensure food is stored and cooked at correct temperature by regulating temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters.
- Season and cook food according to recipes or personal judgment and experience. Turn or stir foods to ensure even cooking.
- Observe and test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently, using methods such as tasting, smelling, or piercing them with utensils.
- Portion, arrange, and garnish food, and serve food to waiters or patrons.
- Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes or personal judgment, using various kitchen utensils and equipment.
- Bake, roast, broil, and steam meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods.
- Wash, peel, cut, and seed fruits and vegetables to prepare them for consumption.
- Estimate expected food consumption, requisition or purchase supplies, or procure food from storage.
- Substitute for or assist other cooks during emergencies or rush periods.
- Consult with supervisory staff to plan menus, taking into consideration factors such as costs and special event needs.
- Prepare relishes and hors d’oeuvres.
- Carve and trim meats such as beef, veal, ham, pork, and lamb for hot or cold service, or for sandwiches.
- Bake breads, rolls, cakes, and pastries.
- Butcher and dress animals, fowl, or shellfish, or cut and bone meat prior to cooking.
- Keep records and accounts.
- Plan and price menu items.

Job Opportunity Information:
- Positions are temporary and full-time
- April 15 through October 31
- >35 hours per week
- Morning, mid-day, and evening shifts available, 7 days a week
- Total number of job openings: 12
- On-the-job training will be provided
- The employer will provide workers at no charge all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the job
Wage and Other Compensation Information:
- Hourly wage = $14.73-$16 per hour for the first 40 hours each week
- Overtime wage = $22.10-$24 per hour for each hour over 40 hours each week
- A single work week will be used to compute wages due
- The employer guarantees to offer work for hours equal to at least three-fourths of the workdays in each 12-week period of the total employment period
- All deductions from the worker’s paycheck required by law will be made
- Pay period = every 2 weeks
- On-site lodging available for $50/week per worker
- H-2B workers
- H-2B workers will be reimbursed in the first work week for all visa, visa processing, border crossing, and other related fees, including those mandated by the government (excluding passport fees)
- Transportation (including meals and, to the extent necessary, lodging) to the place of employment will be provided, or its cost to workers reimbursed, if the worker completes half the employment period.” “Return transportation will be provided if the worker completes the employment period or is dismissed early by the employer
